Let’s start with the dimensions: 4910mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1770mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2910mm. For a compact MPV, this wheelbase is quite impressive, and the space utilization is excellent. At 175cm tall, after adjusting the front driver's seat and leaving about one fist of legroom in the second row, I still had around three fingers of legroom in the third row. While taller adult males might find it a bit restrictive for long journeys, it’s perfectly adequate for children. The infotainment system has a clear logic and sharp display. Frequently used functions are placed on the home screen widgets, easily accessible to both the driver and front passenger. In terms of materials, the interior uses a combination of leather and plastic. There is a significant amount of leather upholstery on the dashboard, door panels, and central control area, while other parts use plastic. However, it’s not low-quality plastic, and the new car smell is almost non-existent. The fit and finish are good, with tight panel gaps and no rough edges. While the interior design isn't particularly luxurious, it offers high practicality and good value for money.
Storage Capacity
I believe many potential buyers value storage space highly. The Xingguang 730 PHEV not only has a large trunk but also numerous storage compartments throughout the cabin. For example, there is a big recess under the central control area, and the door panels also have deep pockets. The locations for water cups and mobile phones are well thought out, making them easy to reach while driving. Folding down the third-row seats creates a large, flat loading space, significantly enhancing cargo capacity. For a family of three or four, this car can essentially be used as a "large four-seater," making it an excellent choice for self-driving tours or camping.
Technology & Driver Assistance
Many people might think that for an MPV around 100,000 RMB, spaciousness is enough. However, the Xingguang 730 PHEV also offers a decent level of technology. This isn't just about having multiple screens; it’s reflected in the driving and parking assistance features. For instance, the 360-degree panoramic camera helps the driver navigate narrow areas with ease. In many residential areas where parking is difficult and cars are often parked two or three rows deep, narrow roads are common. Without a 360 camera, new drivers might feel anxious. Additionally, the reversing image is clear and displays the approximate distance to obstacles, proving its value in daily driving.
Performance & Driving Experience
Given the vehicle's weight and the likelihood of carrying seven passengers, power is an important consideration. The Xingguang 730 PHEV uses a combination of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and an electric motor. The motor delivers 230N·m of torque. When starting, the electric drive provides a very smooth experience with almost no lag, jitter, or hesitation. The acceleration from a standstill outperforms many fuel-powered cars in the 100,000 RMB class. When overtaking on the highway, the power response is timely. During my test drive with five adult males on board, overtaking was stress-free, and the overall performance was quite good. The chassis uses a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension setup. While the handling might be slightly lacking, the ride comfort is excellent. It filters out road bumps effectively, which is great if the car is often carrying the elderly or children. Another key point is the 125km pure electric range. The range achievement rate is good enough for daily commuting or weekend trips with the kids around the city. For highway driving, you can switch to PHEV mode to save fuel significantly.
Conclusion
From a family perspective, the Xingguang 730 PHEV is a very suitable choice. Its advantage isn't that it excels in a specific parameter or relies on marketing hype; instead, it finds a balance between real user needs and price based on what owners actually require in their daily lives. It allows owners to buy a more family-friendly car at a lower price.
