Wuling Starlight 560 First Showtime
On December 11th, Wuling, a subsidiary of SAIC-GM, will officially launch its new model, the Starlight 560, at the 2025 ASEAN International Auto Show and open pre-orders. Positioned as an "all-round tough SUV with ample space", the Starlight 560's most notable strategy is to offer three power options simultaneously: fuel, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric, aiming to meet diverse demands with "full power coverage".

Core Highlights: One Model, Three Travel Solutions
The core product logic of the Starlight 560 lies in maximizing choice. Unlike most brands that focus on a single energy path, it offers three power architectures:
Pure Electric Version: Equipped with a 100kW motor and a 54.5kWh or 56.7kWh battery pack, with a CLTC range of 450-500 kilometers, suitable for users with convenient charging and mainly urban commuting.

Plug-in Hybrid Version: Composed of a 1.5L engine and a motor, with a declared pure electric range of 100 kilometers, it can cover daily short trips with electricity and also has the advantage of long-distance travel without anxiety.
Fuel Version: Fitted with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 130kW (about 177 horsepower), providing a reliable option for users who prefer traditional power or have inconvenient charging conditions.

This "one model, three power" layout enables it to flexibly adapt to differences in regional market policies, infrastructure, and user habits.
Space and Design: Practicalism for Families
The new model is positioned as "large space", with dimensions of 4745mm in length, 1850mm in width, and 1755mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2810mm. Its wheelbase parameter exceeds many compact SUVs in the same class, providing a foundation for 5-seat or 7-seat layouts.
In design, the Starlight 560 features tough body lines and is equipped with a "twin front face". The fuel and plug-in hybrid versions use blacked-out honeycomb grilles, while the pure electric version has a closed front face, catering to different aesthetic preferences.
The market strategy of the Starlight 560 is very clear: It does not engage in "intra-brand competition" with rivals on a single technology route but instead covers a broader base of users by offering unprecedented "power freedom". Whether it's first-time car-buying families concerned about cost or practicalists needing to adapt to multiple scenarios, they can find corresponding options in its product matrix.
However, the multi-power layout also poses higher challenges for Wuling in terms of cost control, production management, and marketing positioning. Against the backdrop of the mainstream market being dominated by a few star models, the "all-round coverage" approach of the Starlight 560 has the potential to become a variable that stirs up the entry-level SUV market. Its ultimate success will not only depend on the product itself but also on whether Wuling can clearly convey the core values of the three power versions to consumers with different needs.
