Tesla to Reveal New Roadster Details on April 1st. Musk: "The Best Car Humanity Will Ever Drive"
Recently, Elon Musk mentioned the all-new Tesla Roadster again on a show and teased that details of the sports car would be revealed on April 1st. Musk stated, "Safety is not the primary goal of this car. People who buy Ferraris don't buy them for safety, and the same applies to the Roadster. I would say, if safety is your number one criteria for a car, please do not buy the Roadster... We will do our best to prevent people from dying in it. It will be the best car that humanity will ever drive. The best of the last." He once again praised the extreme performance of the new Roadster. Musk has done many crazy things in the past, and the craziest one was sending the previous generation Roadster into space, so anything is possible.
The new Roadster can be called the ultimate "tease" or the king of delays. It first made its public debut in 2017, yet nine years later, we still haven't seen it on the market. Last year, Tesla announced that the new Roadster would be officially released by the end of 2025, but that promise was also broken.
Previously, Tesla's Vice President of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, said, "The new Roadster will be the best-driving car before the era of autonomous driving arrives. In the future, owning a car that can be driven autonomously by humans will become a luxury. For many years, we have spent a lot of time rethinking what we do, why we do it, and striving to make the last great driving sports car a reality. We are always working to make this car better. We showed Musk the car's unique skills, and he was very excited."
Earlier, Musk stated on social media that the new Roadster might be equipped with 10 rocket thrusters, making it fast enough to "take off," with a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration of less than 1 second. The new Roadster will have a peak torque of 10,000 N·m, a maximum range of 992 kilometers, and a top speed of 400 km/h.
