The SAIC Audi E7X will make its debut at the Beijing Auto Show, boasting a range of over 751 km and 800V fast charging.

It is expected to go on sale this year. The luxury pure electric large SUV market is undergoing a new round of reshuffling. With fierce competition from brands like BMW and NIO, SAIC Audi is finally revealing its key card. The Audi E7X, which was recently exposed in the industrial and information ministry's application information, as the brand's second pure electric model, highlights its ultra-long range, 800V high-voltage architecture, and family luxury design. It is scheduled to officially debut at the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show and is expected to go on sale in the first half of this year, filling the gap in SAIC Audi's pure electric large SUV lineup.

In terms of exterior design, the Audi E7X continues the family language established by the E5 Sportback while deeply restoring the futuristic feel of the E SUV concept car. The combination of the illuminated brand logo and the ring-shaped light strip is not only a signature design of Audi's pure electric models but also enhances the technological atmosphere through subtle light effect changes. It is expected that the optional front headlights may be equipped with digital matrix LED technology, achieving adaptive lighting and dynamic welcome effects, continuing Audi's traditional advantage in lighting.

The 5049/2002/1708 mm dimensions of the E7X's body side, combined with a 3060 mm wheelbase, not only ensure the presence of a large SUV but also avoid a bulky appearance through smooth lines. The diverse optional configurations exposed in the application information are very eye-catching, from different styles of wheels, bumpers to colored calipers and privacy glass, meeting consumers' diverse demands for personalization, which is not common among luxury brand pure electric models.

Power and range are the core competitiveness of the E7X. The new car is equipped with two types of ternary lithium-ion battery packs of 100 kWh and 109.3 kWh (supplied by SAIC-Gotion), corresponding to a pure electric range of 615-751 km as per the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This data significantly exceeds the maximum range of 630 km of the BMW iX and surpasses the 635 km range of the NIO ES8. More importantly, its 800V high-voltage platform brings efficient charging experience. The official statement indicates that a 10-minute charge can add 320 km of range, although it is slightly inferior to the 370 km/10 minutes of the E5 Sportback, it still ranks among the top in the large SUV category.

In terms of power, the combination of a 300 kW single-motor two-wheel drive version (500 Nm) and a 500 kW dual-motor four-wheel drive version (800 Nm) covers different needs. The four-wheel drive version is expected to have a 0-100 km/h acceleration of around 5 seconds. Combined with the possible air suspension and all-wheel steering system, it balances performance and handling quality.
In terms of size positioning, although the 3060 mm wheelbase of the Audi E7X is 100 mm shorter than the 3130 mm of the NIO ES8, the 2002 mm width is on par with its competitors. It is expected that the interior lateral space performance will be excellent. Combined with Audi's experience in optimizing space, the rear legroom is likely to meet the needs of luxury large SUV users. As a key part of SAIC Audi's "sedan + SUV" pure electric product combination, the E7X complements the E5 Sportback with a starting price of 235,900 yuan, covering the 200,000-600,000 yuan luxury pure electric market. Its price is expected to fall within the 400,000-600,000 yuan range, directly competing with models like the BMW iX (starting at 373,500 yuan) and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV (starting at 486,000 yuan).

From the perspective of the market environment, the entry of the E7X coincides with BMW's large-scale price adjustment, with some models seeing a reduction of over 20%. The competition in the luxury pure electric market is becoming increasingly fierce. Its core advantages lie in the Audi brand heritage, the technological leadership of the 800V high-voltage platform, and balanced product performance. However, it also faces challenges: NIO ES8's battery swap model is more suitable for users with range anxiety, BMW iX's driving and handling genes are deeply rooted in people's minds, and Audi's market presence in the pure electric field still needs to be further enhanced. For consumers, the E7X is more suitable for those who value brand luxury, long-distance driving reliability, and fast charging efficiency, especially business people and family users who pursue balanced and all-round products.

It is worth noting that Audi's consistent commitment to safe vehicle manufacturing may become an implicit advantage of the E7X. Its battery system and intelligent driving hardware are likely to continue to meet standards higher than the national ones. In the current context of frequent accidents in intelligent driving, this might be the key to attracting rational consumers. However, details such as interior configuration and intelligent vehicle infotainment systems have not been announced yet. Referring to the Qualcomm 8295 chip and AUDI OS system equipped in the E5 Sportback, it is expected that the E7X will maintain a mainstream level of intelligence in its class, but the specific performance still needs to be revealed by the official.

Overall, the Audi E7X is a product that precisely targets market pain points. The combination of ultra-long range, efficient charging, and luxurious feel gives it the strength to compete with new energy forces and traditional luxury rivals. As the 2026 Beijing Auto Show approaches, more details of this new car will be exposed. Whether it can help SAIC Audi gain a foothold in the pure electric market and reshape the competitive landscape of luxury large pure electric SUVs is worth continuous attention.
